Asa Lawrence Antisdel

Adams County Free Press, Corning, Iowa, Thursday, July 9, 1931, Page 9, Col. 4: Another Adams county pioneer citizen passed to his eternal reward last Saturday morning when Asa L. Antisdel died suddenly at the home of his son, Leon, near Carl. Mr. Antisdel passed away without a moment's warning, although his health had not been good for a number of years.
Funeral services were held from the home Monday afternoon at two o'clock conducted by Rev. George Herrick. Interment was made in the Carl cemetery.
Asa Lawrence Antisdel, son of Lawrence and Amelia Antisdel, was born in Bradford county, Pennsylvania August 11, 1854, and departed this life at his home near Carl, Iowa, July 4, 1931, at the age of 75 years, ten months and twenty-three days.
On March 13, 1875, he was united in marriage to Evaline Well, who preceded him in death July 30, 1921. To this union five children were born, namely Mrs., Clara Seley, Council Bluffs; Arthur W., Mrs. Lulu Davis, Leon A., and Lynn W., who reside in the vicinity of the home.
In 1884 Mr. Antisdel with his wife and two oldest children came from Pennsylvania to Adams county, Iowa, settling in Carl township where his remaining days were spent.
He leaves to mourn their loss the children, twenty-five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Also two brothers, Willington of near Bridgewater, Iowa; Phinnis, of Sullivan, Mo., besides a host of friends.
Mr. Antisdel was loved and esteemed by all who knew him as an upright , kind husband and a loving father, and he will be missed in the community in which he so long resided.
