Obituary from the Kearney Hub, Kearney, Nebraska, May 18, 2010: Beaver City - Eugene Clason, 80, of Beaver City died Sunday, May 16, 2010, at his home southeast of Beaver City. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Oxford Evangelical Free Church with the Rev. Wes Holen officiating. Burial will be at Maple Creek Cemetery in rural Beaver City. Visitation will be until 8 p.m. today at Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City and before services Wednesday at the church. He was born Jan. 22, 1930, at Beaver City to Francis and Hazel (Thomas) Clason. On June 1, 1949, he married Ruth Wasenius at Beaver City. Survivors include his wife; stepmother, Emma Clason of York; sons, Steven Clason and his wife, Rachelle, of Beaver City, Jim Clason of Hastings and Lee Clason of Minden; daughters, Patty Wolstenholm and her husband, Ross, of York, Laura Nelson and her husband, Irvin, and Ruth Gove, all of Kearney, Bonnie Wright and her husband, Michael, of Stamford and Susan Bayliss of Omaha; brother, Merle Dean Clason and his wife, Juanita, of Beaver City; stepbrothers, Kenneth "Dean" Lambert and his wife, Marjory, of Beaver City and LeRoy Lambert and his wife, Marjorie, of Miller; 30 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
He was a life-long resident of Furnas County. He attended Beaver City High School. He farmed all of his life southeast of Beaver City in the Precept area. He got his pilot training at an early age, licensed at age 18. He and his wife built the Dairy Queen in Beaver City in 1968 and operated it until 1976, at which time they sold it. He started Clason Trucking Co. in 1970 and operated it until the late 1990s. He also bought the Sale Barn in Phillipsburg, Kan., in the mid-1980s and sold it in the late 1990s. He was very active in the Clason farming operation up until the time of his death. He was a life member of The Assembly of God Church at Beaver City, lately attending the Evangelical Free Church in Oxford. He was preceded in death by his parents.
