Grandma is remembered for farm visits, Tinker Toys, plastic horses, homemade noodles, angel food birthday cakes, fried chicken dinners, her famous homemade bread from potato starter, and special Christmas celebrations. Grandma made sure all of her grandchildren received a Bible at Christmas time.

In November 1965, Hazel moved into a new home in Beaver City, built by her sons and her loving husband, Harley. This move was helpful, since her eyesight was failing. Her home was always open for her grandchildren during their school years. While living in the home 42 great-grandchildren were born. Grandma enjoyed making stocking caps for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and playing her mandolin.

In her later years she and Harley spent five winters in Texas and three in Arizona.

On February 5, 1996, her loving husband Harley went to his Heavenly home. Hazel dearly missed his companionship and comfort. She continued to reside in her home with assistance from her family and friends. During this time, God in Heaven comforted her and gave her the strength to remain faithful to His loving name. Living for the Lord was very important to Hazel.

As her strength failed, Grandma was moved to the Beaver City Manor on June 15, 1999. She still continued to visit family and friends for special occasions. While Grandma was in this new home, she thanked everyone for their phone calls, visits and prayerful support.
