Chester Allen Schober

Chester A. "Chet" Schober, 70, of the Wenatchee Valley, died Saturday, Sept. 13, 1997, at Central Washington Hospital. He was born on April 17, 1927, to John and Alice (Overholser) Schober at Osage, Minn., where he was raised and attended schools. He entered the Army Air Force and served overseas. Following his honorable discharge, he moved to Cashmere, where he worked for Bovee Orchards. On June 21, 1947, he married Grace Tretbar in Cashmere. They made their home near Dryden before moving to Minnesota, where he attended a vocational school and became a machinist. In 1978, they returned to the Wenatchee Valley, where they since lived. Chet worked for Stemilt Growers as a machinist until retiring in 1992. He was a member of Our Savior's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife, Grace, of East Wenatchee; two sons, David Schober of East Wenatchee and Michael Schober of Truman, Minn.; one daughter, Marsha Orr of Truman, Minn.; three brothers, Leon Schober of Palmer, Ark., Raymond Schober of Wenatchee and John Schober of St. Regis, Mont.; two sisters, Lorena Knight of Dryden and Mabel Euell of Tigard, Ore.; nine grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three sons and his parents. Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.
