Obituary of Lillie Edna Stevens from the Times-Standard Newspaper, Eureka, California: Lillie Edna Stevens passed on May 26, 2002 in Bend, Oregon after a courageous battle with breast and bone cancer. Lillie was born January 16, 1940 at the old St. Joseph's Hospital in Eureka. She was an outstanding athlete and scholar at local schools before earning Bachelor's Degrees in Music and Education from the College of Idaho in 1960. Lillie married Jerrold Koester that year, and they lived in Boston for a time. After that relationship ended, Lillie married John Peterson in 1972. Lillie and John would have celebrated their 30th anniversary June 15th. Lillie worked as Research Data Consultant in the Seattle area before retiring in 1990 and moving to Oregon. Lillie was a principal violinist in major symphonies throughout the Pacific Northwest prior to her retirement. She was also an accomplished pianist. She enjoyed camping, being camp host at Cape Bianco State Park in Oregon, knitting, animals, her grandchildren, and her niece Lauren Stevens.

Lillie is survived by her husband, John Peterson of Bend, Oregon; her brother, Roland Stevens of Modesto and his wife Arlene and Lauren; her son Brian Koester of New York City, his wife Helen, and Lillie's grandson Conor, and her son, Eric Koester of Corvallis, Oregon, and his wife Suzanne, and Lillie's grandchildren Kendle, Alexa, Gracie and Ethan.
