Jennie Hester Kirkpatrick

Eureka Times Standard, Eureka, California, Thursday, September 24, 1992, Page B 10, Col. 8: Jennie H. Stevens died Sept. 22, 1992 in Eureka at age 78. A native of Llewellyn, Neb., she had been a resident of Eureka since 1930. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Eureka and a graduate of Eureka High School. Jennie was also a secretary for the California Department of Fish and Game, and then went to work at the California Highway Patrol Office, she was also employed by the Humboldt County Sheriff's Department, retired in 1979, after 30 years of service to three law enforcement agencies.

She is survived by her son, Roland Roy Stevens of Modesto; a daughter, Lillie Stevens of Coquille, Ore.; eight grandchildren; two grandnephews; and three grandnieces. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Orlando Stevens, in 1978; and two brothers, Roscoe and James Kirkpatrick.

Friends are invited to attend funeral services Saturday, Sept. 26, 1992, at 9 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, Del Norte and E Streets, Eureka, with the Rev. Wesley Powell officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Park, Eureka. Arrangements are under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home, Eureka. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2942 F St., Eureka 95501; the American Heart Association, Redwood Empire Chapter, PO Box 1477, Eureka, 95502; or the First Baptist Church, Memorial Fund, 422 Del Norte St., Eureka 95501.
