Christopher Progress, Christopher, Illinois, Wednesday, August 10, 1977, Page 13, Col. 4: Emma Estella Lumsden, 89, of 300 Church St., Zeigler, a retired school teacher and charter member of the First United Methodist Church in Zeigler, died at 11:50 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, in the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Zeigler.
Mrs. Lumsden also was a charter member and organizer of the American Legion Auxiliary of Zeigler, charter member of the John Rogers Chapter of DAR, charter member of the Zeigler Rebekah Lodge and member of the Kaskaskia chapter of National Daughters of the War of 1812.
She was born July 27, 1888, in Franklin County to Scott and Louisa Brown Dillon. She had been a resident of Zeigler since 1920. Her husband, William, died in July 1962.
Survivors include a son, Marion J. Mygatt of Sun City, Ariz., a sister, Winona Ice of Carbondale; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Lumsden were held Saturday at 1 at the Methodist church with the Rev. Smith Williams officiating. Burial was in Zeigler cemetery, under direction of Vantrease Funeral Home in Zeigler.
