Louise Kirkpatrick

Mount Vernon Register-News, Mount Vernon, Illinois, February 7, 2008: Louise Mick, 94, of South Bend, Ind., passed away at 8:35 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008, at home. She was born on May 18, 1913, in Elk Prairie Township, Jefferson County, to Isaac F. and Dicy (Dalby) Kirkpatrick and has lived in South Bend since 1999 coming from Houston, Texas where she lived for 27 years. On July 17, 1936, in Mount Vernon, she married Earl Mick, who preceded her in death on Nov. 4, 1986. Mrs. Mick is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Glenda and Ed Erskin of South Bend, Ind.; her son and daughter-in-law, James F. and Carolyn Mick of Marshall, Texas; five grandchildren, Kimberley Wagley of Mishawaka, James and wife Dawn Erskin of Mishawaka, Laura and husband Bennie Onken of Channelview, Texas, Jennifer and husband William Green of Yucatan, Mexico, and Christina and husband Audie Hamm of Jacksonville, Texas; 14 great-grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; her sister, Josephine Boehm of South Bend, Ind., and brother, LeRoy Kirkpatrick of Houston, Texas. She was preceded in death by her sister, Pearl Ryder; brother, Aram Kirkpatrick; and grandson-in-law, Doug Wag-ley. A beautiful lady, Louise was the true definition of "mom" and "grandma". She loved all her children so dearly. Louise was a great cook and loved gardening. Exceptionally fine handcrafted quilts were her passion. Associated with the Christian Church all her life, she loved the Lord and His church; serving Him faithfully. Mrs. Mick retired in 1965 from J.L. Hudson of Detroit, Mich., where she sold fine china. She was a member of Channelview Garden Club and Memorial Christian Church, Houston, Texas. Funeral services were held at 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2008, at Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave, South Bend. Ed Erskin, minister of Northway Church of Christ, South Bend officiated. Funeral services were also held on Monday, Jan. 7, 2008, at Navarre Funeral Home, Baytown, Texas where burial followed in Memorial Gardens, Baytown, Texas.
