Report of the death yesterday of Mrs. Susan B. Shoemaker, 75, of 1142 South Pershing, daughter of prominent early day Wichita judge, William P. ("Tiger Bill") Campbell. Born March 24, 1875 in the old Campbell home at southeast corner of 1st and Market. Married Sanford C. Kirkpatrick June 15, 1899. They had three children and he died February 29, 1904. The Wichita Beacon, Thursday, June 8, 1950, Page 23: Early Resident Taken in Death. Mrs. Susan B. Shoemaker, 75, of 1142 South Pershing, daughter of a prominent early-day Wichita judge, William P. (Tiger Bill) Campbell and Mrs. Campbell, died Wednesday morning in the Wichita Osteopathic Hospital after an illness of several years. She was born March 24, 1875 in the old Campbell home which was located on the southeast corner of Market and First Streets. She attended the Lewis Academy Garfield University now Friends and Fairmount College, now the University of Wichita. She taught school at Clearwater for two years. She was married to Sanford C. Kirkpatrick on June 15, 1899 in Wichita. Kirkpatrick died February 29, 1904. On October 30, 1907 she married Dr. George O. Shoemaker an osteopathic physician here. Dr. Shoemaker died July 7, 1942. Mrs. Shoemaker was a member of the First Christian Church. She is survived by two sons, Leroy E. Kirkpatrick of Hermosa Beach, Calif., and George O. Shoemaker of Wilmington, Del.; four daughters, Mrs. Roscoe Simmons of 240 Socora Drive, Mrs. Dewey H. Smith, 255 Ohio, Mrs. Harold K. Thurston of 1142 South Pershing and Mrs. Rex E. Bienz of 4012 East Kellogg; two brothers William P. Campbell, Jr. of Pasadena, Calif., and John A. Campbell, 232 North Topeka; two sisters Mrs. Nolan Wilson of Willow Springs, Mo. and Mrs. J. Fenton Chapin of Hartville, Mo.; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Gill Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Ting Chaffie, pastor of the Roadway Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
