On the 1930 U. S. Census of Portland, Multnomah Co., Oregon, Paul G. Toenjes appears with his wife Ella I. P. and children Paul G. and Gladys J. Paul is a pressman at a printing company. Ella states she was married at 24. Paul states he married at 22. This would indicate that both were married previously.

Toenjes, 45, printer, lost his life today to save two small children from electrocution. The children were flying a kite, which fell on two high tension electric wires. The wires burned and fell to the ground. Toenjes picked up the wires apparently to pull them out of the path of the children. He was killed almost instantly. The children were uninjured.
