Achsa "Goldie" Goolsby

Funeral services were held in the Holy Family Catholic Church Monday morning for Mrs. Goldie Kelly. Burial was at Mountain View Cemetery. A resident of Deming for over 52 years. Mrs. Kelly died Friday night at the age of 74. She had been ill several months before her death. She was born in Elmo, Texas in 1880, and in 1902 was married to the late C. J. Kelly, whom she met while visiting her aunt, Mrs. Seamon Fields of Deming. Mrs. Kelly was a charter member of the Garden Club and was active for many years in the Altar Society of the Catholic Church. During World [War] I she served in the Red Cross shop---humorously described as "glorified rummage sale." Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Laura Lucille Flaska of Albuquerque, Mrs. Ann Simpkins of Hatch and Mrs. Chester Sipple of Peoria, Ill.; three sisters, Mrs. Suzanne Liles of Denver, Mrs. R. C. Tevis of Barnett, Texas, and Mrs. Virginia Lamey of Dallas; two brothers, W. A. Goosby of San Angelo, Texas, and Claude Goosby of Dallas, and two grandchildren, Miss Elizabeth Sipple of Peoria, Ill., and Miss Sally Anne Simpkins of Hatch.
