The Orange County Register, Santa Ana, California, Wednesday, May 25, 2011: Deceased Name: Porter, Tom B., 91, passed away peacefully on May 18th at his home in Fullerton with his family by his side. He was born in Harmony, Ar. in 1920. His family moved to Farmington, AR. when he was four and he lived there until he joined the Army-Air Corp. in 1941. He served as a B17 radar specialist during WWII. After being discharged in 1945, he attended the University of Arkansas where he received a B.S and M.S. degree in education. While attending college, he was a star pitcher for the U of A baseball team. After graduation he accepted a job in Pleasant Hill, LA as the high school agriculture teacher. In 1954 he moved his family to CA. where he accepted a job at Faye Ross Jr. High in Artesia. He worked his way up from teacher to becoming Assistant Principal and then Principal before he retired in 1986. He was preceded in death by his wife Grace. He is survived by his daughter, Beverly Peck, her husband Bert and grandson Greg. He is also survived by two sisters, Helen Hill and Doris Church. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends. A memorial service will be held Sat. May 28, 11:45 at Riverside National Cemetery.
