Posted at findagrave.com: Velma Lea Dye Gray passed away Saturday March 31, 2018. She was born April 9th 1923 in Laquezway, Missouri to Bryan and Gladys Dye. She married Sherman Grant Gray in 1946 in Waynesville, Missouri they were married 46 years. Mrs. Gray graduated from Central Missouri State in 1956 with a B.S. Before she was married she taught school in Amarillo, Lubbock and Waynesville, Missouri in a one room school house. She worked through school as a dental assistant and librarian. She loved to fish, garden, read and loved the Dallas Cowboys. Velma was a devoted mother, sister, daughter, grandmother, great grandmother and loving aunt to 11 and she was very proud of her family especially her grandkids. Her husband said she was a good woman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Sherman, baby sister Louisa and brother Lt. Col. Ken Dye. She is survived by her son Steve Gray and wife Judy, a daughter Edie Adams, 4 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren. The family wants to thank Meals on Wheels, Scott, Zak, Bryan Trejo, HHA and BSA Hospice for all that they did.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 at Redeemer Christian Church lead by David Richie and Gary Wilcox. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery to follow. Velma was a member of Redeemer Christian for more than 65 years and donations can be made to the church. Published in Amarillo Globe-News from Apr. 3 to Apr. 4, 2018.
