Obituary from the San Pete Messenger-Enterprise, Thursday, August 16, 2001, page 12: On August 13, 2001, God's fingers touched the tired body of Ruth Elizabeth Baker James. She was born February 16, 1911 in Fariston, Kentucky, the daughter of Jasper and Murtle Johnson Baker. She married John L. James February 3, 1931 in Nephi, Utah. The marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Utah Temple. Children of this union are Richard John L. James (deceased), Janet (Dale) Lund of Manti, Kathy (Rodney) Anderson, nine grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Mildred Duggins. Ruth was a member of the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held positions in several organizations. She was a compassionate servant of our Heavenly Father. Ruth was a hard worker. Her children loved to work beside her. She made work fun for them. She had a witty sense of humor, was a wonderful cook and seamstress. Her table was ready set for anyone who came calling. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 18, 2001 at the chapel in Fayette with a viewing from 10 to 11:30 a.m. prior to services at 12 noon. Interment will be in the Fayette Cemetery under the direction of Magleby-Jensen Mortuary of Gunnison and Salina.
