Obituary posted at findagrave.com: Florence B. Place, 82, a Winthrop, IA resident for many years, died Monday, July 13, 1987 at East Towne Manor in Independence, IA. She was born March 8, 1905 in Iowa, the daughter of Jason and Edna Hoshier [Hosier] Saddler. Mrs. Place was united in marriage to Everett E. Decker who died in 1935. She was married to Oliver S. Place on April 6,1949 at Independence. They lived on her farm southeast of Winthrop for many years. Oliver died Jan. 20, 1963. Florence continued to live on the farm until fall, 1983 when she needed nursing care and moved to Independence.
Mrs. Place was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, and one sister. She is survived by one brother, William Saddler, Marshalltown, IA. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 17, 1987 in the Fawcett Funeral Home, Winthrop, IA, with Rev. H. William Arms officiating. Pallbearers were Donald Andrews, Leo Francois, Paul Francois, Alan Francois, Roger Decker, and John Hogan. Burial was in Wilson Cemetery, rural Independence, IA.
