Burlington Hawk Eye, Burlington, Iowa, Sunday, January 1, 1995, Page 7, Col. 1: Velma Laura Kirkpatrick Bugg, 81, of 1102 48th St., Fort Madison, formerly of Lowell, died at 6:37 pm. Friday, Dec. 30, 1994, at the Fort Madison Community Hospital.

Born June 22, 1913, in Crawfordsville, she was the daughter of Dallas and Edith Hand Kirkpatrick. On June 15, 1940, she married William J. Bugg at Burlington. He died Nov. 9, 1981. Mrs. Bugg was a retired nurse. She had worked at the North Hill Nursing Home in Burlington and the New London Nursing Home in New London. She was a graduate of the Red Cloud, Neb., High School of Hammond, Ind. She attended the Fort Madison Christian Church.

Survivors include two sons, William Bugg of Argyle and Henry Bugg of Wever; two daughters, Edith Daugherty of Argyle and Mary Bellis of Onawa; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today at Elliott Chapel in New London, where the family will receive friends between 7 and 8:30 p.m. The funeral for Mrs. Bugg will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Elliott Chapel in New London, with the Rev. Shirley Hoffmann officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. A memorial has been established for the Hillview Retirement Center of Fort Madison.
