"The Hamblen and Allied Families"
'Job Hamblen . . . place undetermined but most probably Worcester Cou ty, MD, yet he may have been born at some p0oint between Worcester County and Charlotte County , Virginia - or he might have been born in Charlotte County. Be that as it may he was living at the age of 14 with his father 18 miles south of the Charlotte Courthouse.'

'In March of 1779 he enlisted as a private in the Company of John Tabbs Virginia State Militia which later formed a company in Col. charles Dabney's regiment.'

Records from Washington, DC show Job Hamblen to have been in an engagement at Piney Fork but search of records at our command fails to show any engagement by that name during the Rev. War; hence it is assumed that some mistake may have occurred in copying and that Point Of Fork probably is the engagement intended.

Job Hamblen was with his company of VA militia during many maneuvers where he remained until after the surrender of Cornwallis. He received his discharge from further service on march 10, 1782. It is presumed that he at once returned to his father' home which at this time was probably in Pittsylvania County, VA.

the next event of record is of his marriage to Elenor Mullings, 9/3/1782 in Pittsylvania County.

After his marriage to Eleanor he probably lived in Pittsylvania Co., After this they may have moved to the thriving Holston River Country of Washington or Scott County since his brother Pierce Dant Hamblen is known to have lived there.

Most likely they then settled in Western Virginia with others.

The next positively iknown place of residence was in Lee County, VA. Probaly near Rose Hill 18 miles east of Cumberland Gap.
