Individual Details

John Joseph (John Joe) MOLONEY

(4 Feb 1915 - 25 Apr 2007)

Sponsors at John Joe's baptism were John Moloney and Julia Moloney.

John Joe inherited the family farm in Sluicequarter/Islandanny where he had been born. The Sluicequarter area of Duagh tended to be known as Islandanny in the 19th century and Sluicequarter in the 20th century, although their boundaries are not he same, Sluicequarter being part of the larger Islandanny. However, when discussing the Moloney family farm the two placenames are interchangeable. Sluicequarter residents now appear to use Kilmorna as their address.
