Individual Details

Nicholas MADDEN

(Abt 1844 - 23 Apr 1919)

According to Nicholas's death certificate the cause of death was "probably paralysis, twelve months, no medical attendant".

Much of the information below on the family of Nicholas and his wife, Sarah, has come from the genealogical research carried out some years ago by the late Mary Lane (née O'Sullivan) of Meenkilly, Abbeyfeale, Co. Limerick, a granddaughter of Nicholas and Sarah. I am very grateful to Mary's family for sharing the results of her research.

Madden researchers may also be interested in the following:
An Ellen Madden of Lower Kilgarvan died on 30 December 1978 aged 77, and a Sr. Jude Madden of Kilgarvan and the Redcote Convent, Southampton died on 23 June 1982.

Note that the transcribed church record of the marriage of Nicholas and Sarah has Sarah marrying a Richard Madden on 14 February 1889 but first name and year appear to be incorrect - all other documentation I have seen point to Sarah having married Nicholas in 1888.
