Johanna's age on her marriage certificate is 25 although she would have been 30 years old at the time. Similarly, the 1901 Canadian census gives Johanna's date of birth as 17 March 1863, about five years later than her actual date of birth. It is possible of course that the Johanna born in February 1857 died as a child and another daughter, named Johanna, was born in March 1863.
Johanna and her husband, James, emigrated to Canada in 1887 (this information comes from the 1911 Canadian census), settling in Hamilton, Ontario.
