From the 1939 Register we know Jim and his young family were living at 10 Laurel Close, Hendon, London. Jim was an art director and worked in several prominent British film productions, such as Scott of the Antarctic (1948) and The Ladykillers (1955). He received an Academy Award nomination in 1949 for his work in Saraband for Dead Lovers.
