Abner Mead
(22 Feb 1749/50 - 1 Jun 1810)
"They removed from Putnam County To Roxbury, Delaware County N>Y., perhaps about 1810, but it is said that they died at Middletown, Delaware VCounty. Nor even approximate dates can be obtained from grandchildren. It is said the Mead family had come from Connecticut to Frederickstown, Dutchess County about 1740."
From info given to Pat Hamp by Robin Boyer (LeeGate@mediaone.net) 6 Jan 2000
An Abner Mead appears on the 1800 Census for the Town of Roxbury (same Abner?- Mark lozer thinks he may be a son or nephew of this Abner, Mark contends that this baer died about 1779, Ira has a later date). Roxbury was erected by division of the town of Stamford on March 23 1799.
Abner and Mercy HAZEN MEAD moved to Delaware Co, NY ca 1790 from Carmel,
Putnam Co, NY. Several of their children were buried in the Vega
Cemetery. Abner was in Roxbury, Delaware Co, for the 1800 Census. He
was probably deceased by the 1810 Census.- from query on Delaware Co.NY website-info from Dorothy Holgate
The1790 for Dutchess and the 1800 census for Delaware Co NY lists 1 male born 1774-1784 that doesn't fit into known children. Also listed on 1800 census is a male 10-16 and a female under 10 that doesn't fit into known children.
I'm not sure who his parents are----several sources have several different parents---
