On 8 Feb 1904 in Lansing, Ingham County, Mi Michigan, she married Clyde DRUM, son of Walter Drum and Marie CRANE. The marriage ended in divorce but one daughter wa s born to the union. Elma next married Samuel GEETING ca 1916. He was born 4 Mar 1870 and died 4 Feb 1958. They had three children and divorced ca 1925. Elma's third husband was L.B. Smith. During their marriage they operated a restaur ant in Lansing, Michigan. In later years when Elma was agai n unattached and her parents were elderly, she went to live with and care for them on their farm near Burlington, Michigan. When this arrangement didn't work out she lived for a while with her sister Kate in Galesburg, Michigan, and later with her brother Floyd in Battle Creek, Michigan. It was there she died on 2 Dec 1951. She had been ill for several years and seriously so with heart problems the last three years of her life.
