Robert fitz Richard was the son of Richard fitz Gilbert and Rohese Giffard.2 He married Matilda de St. Liz, daughter of Simon de St. Liz, Earl of Huntingdon and Northampton and Maud of Northumberland.3 He died in 1134.3 He was also reported to have died in 1136.1
