Burial
Obituary: CROWLEY - Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 10, 2008 at 2 p.m. for Matilda Hoffpauir Spell, 102, who went to her heavenly home on Monday, April 7, 2008 at 9:30 p.m. at American Legion Hospital in Crowley. She was born January 13, 1906 in Indian Bayou, LA to the late Neville and Elena Boulet Hoffpauir. She was a distinguished member of Crowley First Church of the Nazarene. Rev. Michael Howard, former pastor of Crowley First Church of the Nazarene will officiate for the services. The family requests visiting hours Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to service time. Burial will be in Indian Bayou Cemetery. A loving mother, she is survived by her daughter Nevelyn and son-in-law Earl Warren of Houston, Texas; daughter-in-law, Charlotte Hamic Spell of Franklinton; her four treasured grandchildren, Todd Spell and his wife Kayla of Iota, Dana Sanford and her husband Donnie of Spring, Texas, M. Sigmond Spell, II and his wife Tammie of Iowa and Monty Shey Spell of Iowa. She was blessed with eight great-grandchildren as well as three step-granddaughters and nine step great-grandchildren. Also cherishing her memory are her brother, Norris Hoffpauir and his wife Iva of Lake Charles and brother-in-law, Jesse Spell of Crowley, as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Mrs. Spell was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-one years, James Leo Spell and son, M. Sigmond Spell. For those who prefer, contributions may be made to Crowley First Church of the Nazarene memorial fund in her name. Matilda's family would like to thank all our family and friends for their love and support of her precious life.
