Death
Obituary: FRANKLINTON -Murphy Sigmond Spell, age 66, a resident of the Thomas community, died at 6:25 a.m. Friday, April 20 in Riverside Medical Center. An active member of Briarwood Baptist Church, he served as deacon and assistant treasurer, was a member of the adult choir and co-teacher of the Senior Adult Sunday School Class. He was also an active member of the Southern Miniature Horse Confederation and a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a retired post master from Addis, La. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Hamic Spell of Thomas; three sons, Todd Martin Spell of Iota, La., Murphy Sigmond Spell II and Monte Shey Spell, both of Iowa, La.; three step-daughters, Cynthia Lilley Tucker of Calhoun, La., Catherine Tall of Pine and Christine Lilley of Dutchtown, La.; his mother, Matilda Hoffpauir Spell of Crowley; 14 grandchildren, Devin, Blake, Kristen, Brianne, Timothy, Brett, Rebecca, Sarah, Joshua, Lauren, Jacob, Luke, Blake and Baron; and one sister and brother-in-law, Nevelyn Spell Warren and husband Earl Warren of Houston, Texas. Visitation was held Saturday, April 21 from 5 to 9 p.m. in Crain Funeral Home and continued today at 11 a.m. until time for the funeral service at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Eric Williams will officiate, with a graveside service at 5:30 p.m. and interment following in the Methodist Cemetery in Indian Bayou, La.Endnotes
