George Elbert Hoffpauir

CROWLEY: Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 9, 2001, at First United Methodist Church for George Elbert Hoffpauir, 85, who died at 7:45 a.m. Saturday, April 7, at his Morse residence. The Rev. Bob Hollis, pastor of First United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery. Mr. Hoffpauir was a retired rice farmer; member of Farm Credit of New Orleans; charter member of Crowley Co-Op Rice Drier; member of Crowley Rotary Club with 43 years of perfect attendance; a Shriner for 27 years, Mason and a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church in Crowley, having served several times as chairman of the board of that church.
He is survived by his wife, Celie Pearl Spell Hoffpauir of Morse; three sons, Leonard Hoffpauir of Crowley, Guary Hoffpauir and wife Carol of Crowley and Cecil Hoffpauir and wife Judy of Iota; two daughters, Dorothy and husband Wayne Mitchell of Ray City, Ga., and Celie and husband Reynolds LeJeune of Crowley; one brother, Lloyd Hoffpauir and wife Toni of Ebenezer; one sister, Shirley Crawford of Crowley; one sister-in-law, Eula Hoffpauir of Orange, Texas; one foster son, Carl Trahan and wife Lissette of Belize, Central America; 13 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ina O'Mealy Hoffpauir, and a brother, Donald Hoffpauir. Visitation is from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until services Monday.
