Warren Edward Hoffpauir

Warren Edward "Big Black" Hoffpauir, 77, died at 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, 2004, in Jeff Davis Living Center. His funeral will be at 2 p.m. today, June 17, in First Untied Methodist Church. The Rev. Kemper Smith will officiate. Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery under the direction of Matthews and Son Funeral Home of Gueydan. Visitation is from 8 a.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. He was born Oct. 19, 1926, in Wright. He lived in Gueydan. He married Norma Broussard, and he was a retired farmer. He served in the Marines during World War II. He was an excellent rice, bean and crawfish farmer. He was a baseball coach for seven years. He was a guide for Percy David Hunting Club, and he loved duck hunting. Survivors include his wife, Norma B. Hoffpauir of Gueydan; three sons, William C. Hoffpauir and Keith Hoffpauir, both of Gueydan, and Chad Hoffpauir and daughter-in-law Karen of Port Barre; and one brother, Winfred Hoffpauir of Gueydan. (LCAP 17 June 2004)
