In the 1913 Lake Charles Directory (which sold for $5.00 in 1913) Joseph Aucoin is listed as a carpenter residing at 512 Kirkman Street. Among the other Aucoins listed with the same address are four of his daughters: Agathe [clerk], Clar (Clara) [milliner], Ida [waitress], and Julia [seamstress]. His wife, Palmyre, is not listed at all.

Joseph Aucoin, age 69 years 6 months and 26 days, died Sunday, August 3, 1924. Mr Aucoin had lived in Lake Charles for the past 15 years, having moved here from New Iberia.
He is survived by his wife and eleven children, Mrs. G. A. Glusman, Mrs M. A. Boudreaux, Misses Martha and Anna, Desire, Leon, and George, all of Lake Charles, and Fernand, Marcel, Adam and Mrs F. G. Rothkamm of Shreveport. Burial, Graceland, August 5.
