Gentlemen:

The above name Civil War veteran died July 22, 1890 in New Iberia, Louisiana.

We are seeking information as to the exact place of birth of this veteran which is believed to be somewhere in Illinois.

There are stamps on the back of the letter indicating receipt in different offices of the The Adjudants Office. (1) RECEIVED 6 Oct 1957, Departmental Records Branck (2) RECEIVED 7 Oct 1957 in TAGO, M ^ R Sec (3) DISPATACHED 10 Oct 1957, Departmental Records Branck, which probably indicates that Polly received an answer.
I found the letter going through a folder on Polly's DAR application which also contained documents on land in Gibson, Louisiana. I can't remember seeing the letter before, I guess I just passed over it while because I was interested in the DAR application.
My file shows JOHN C. b 10 Oct 1832 in Louisiana, d 1885 vice 1890. (Don't anything other than a piece of handwritten paper as the reference.)

Letter shows we have been looking for information on this family for a long time.

Polly died in New Iberia in 1993.

I will let you know of anything else I find digging in my files.

Dick Morgan
