She is in the caption (provided by Deborah Penny in September 2001) to a 1909 photo taken outside her grandparents' home in Italy, Texas, as being the daughter of Ciscero Briles. Thus, we know that she was alive in 1909. She appears to be about 3 or 4 when the photo was taken.

In a letter from Winona Briles Brown (daughter of Mallie's Uncle Wilbur) to Sara Briles Moriarty dated July 20, 1982, Winona reports that Mallie was at a Briles Family Reunion that took place in Italy, Texas, earlier that month, so she was still alive as of that date.
