LIFE
A. Her adopted parents were Miriam Kekauluohi and Charles Kanaina (Kamakau, Ruling Chiefs of Hawaii, p 341).
B. No children with Kauikeouli-I-Kiwalao (Descendants of Prince Keeaumoku I, Hms G65, Chart 8-A-2; Pratt, Keoua: Father of Kings, p. 40).
Conflict: Two children with Kauikeaouli died in infancy (Oukah, Hawaiian Royal & Noble Genealogies, p 89).
C. "She was greatly respected for her cordiality and kindness to all. She raised several adopted children, including Kunuiakea (illegitimate son her husband had with Jane Young), and Kaiminaauao (brother of Kalakaua and Liliuokalani) until he died of the measles epidemic in 1848 (Oukah, Hawaiian Royal & Noble Genealogies, p 89).
D. Bingham, Residence of Twenty-one Years in the Sandwich Islands, p xv seems to suggest that Kalama's marriage with Kamehameha III ended in 1847.
