LIFE
A. Ka-uhi-pu-mai-ka-hoaka means Ka-uhi-covered-by-the-shape-of-the-crescent-moon (Kamakau, Ruling Chiefs of Hawaii, p 73).
B. As heir to rule Maui, he rebelled against Kamehamehanui. Alapai took Kamehamehanui to Hawaii, amassed an army and returned to Maui to quell the uprising (Kamakau, Ruling Chiefs of Hawaii, p 73-74).
C. Killed in battle on Maui about 1738 (Fornander, An Account of the Polynesian Race, vol 2 p 140). Drowned by Alapainui-a-Kauana at Kaupo, Maui (Kamakau, Ruling Chiefs of Hawaii, p 233).
