B. He served as interpreter for Boki on Liholiho's ill-fated trip to England (Kuykendall, The Hawaiian Kingdom, vol 1 p 79)
C. Conflict: Thrum, Chronological Table of Important Events lists death year as 1850. However, James wrote a letter in 1851 (Kuykendall, The Hawaiian Kingdom, vol 1 p 79).
