identify Nuakea as male and Keoloewa as female. However, Fornander, An Account of the Polynesian Race, vol 2 p 31-32 and Kalakaua, The Legends and Myths of Hawaii, p 84 identify Nuakea as mate and mother. Keoloewa was ruler of Molokai and named after his father.
