Hoohokukalani

(Abt 114 - )

LINEAGE
Conflict: Some traditions have it that Wakea took Hoohokukalani to wife - either as his daughter, or as the daughter of another family (Malo, Hawaiian Antiquities, p 240). Footnote to "Genealogy of the kings from ancient days to the time of Kamehameha" describes how Wakea lusted after his beautiful daughter and established certain kapus through his priest in order to spend time with her without the knowledge of Papa. Once she discovered his folly, they separated (Hawaiian Spectator, vol 2 p 215-217). This lineage is found in the Ulu Genealogy (see Fornander, An Account of the Polynesian Race, vol 1 p 190), whereas in this tree, the Nana-Ulu Genealogy is followed from Wakea to Kii (see Fornander, An Account of the Polynesian Race, vol 1 p 188).
