LINEAGE
A. "Six generations earlier an ancestor of Pinao (an ali'i of Puna and a descendant of Kihanuilulumoku, a famous early mo'i, sovereign chief, of the island of Hawai'i) had come with his followers to settle on Moloka'i and had married the daughter of its most powerful chief" (Davis, Abraham Fornander: A Biography, p 50).
B. Fragment: A great-grandfather was "Kaoenaia, through his daughter Kamai." Kaoenaia and his brother Kawau were chiefs of Kalaupapa, Molokai. Another brother was Kaohelelani (aka Kaohele), a chief of Kamehamehanui (Fornander, An Account of the Polynesian Race, vol 2 p 147).
LIFE
A. She was a chiefess of Molokai (The Honolulu Advertiser, 02 Nov 1887, p 2, Abraham Fornander. He Passes Away to His Long Rest Yesterday).
B. She died 4 days after giving birth to her second son on January 16, 1857 (Davis, Abraham Fornander: A Biography, p 123).
