LIFE
A. He was a new mate to Kalola in 1785 (Fornander, An Account of the Polynesian Race, vol 2 p 228).
B. He was living in Honua'ula, Maui, when the English ship Eleanor came to shore in February 1790. Kaopuiki stole the skiff attached behind the ship for its iron (Kamakau, Ruling Chiefs of Hawaii, p 145). He may have been killed during the subsequent massacre by the ship's crew.
