B. "Lu'anu'u was raised on Kaua'i until he was a grown man. It is said that he was a good chief. Cultivating was his main work, and he made Kaua'i a productive farm for his kingdom. His was a good government, and he was admired by all... When death drew near he was taken to O'ahu where he died outside Mamala" (Kamakau, Tales and Traditions of the People of Old, p. 29).
