LIFE
A. He was taught by his father "the chiefly genealogies and the composing of the genealogical historical chants" (McKinzie, Hawaiian Genealogies, vol 2 p 93).
B. He resided at Kalamaula, Molokai. He was a personal friend of Kamehameha (Fornander, An Account of the Polynesian Race, vol 2 p 72-73). "The chiefs of Moloka'i had felt very close to the great Kamehameha I from his earliest youth. They called him their keiki, and there, especially in the Kalama'ula home of Kekuelike, Pinao's grandfather, he had felt safe even in times of treachery and violence" (Davis, Abraham Fornander: A Biography, p 51).
C. It was to his refuge on Molokai that Kalola, daughter Kekuiapoiwa Liliha, and granddaughter Keopuolani fled from the conquering army of Kamehameha (Davis, Abraham Fornander: A Biography, p 51).
D. He was grandfather of Abraham Fornander's wife. (Fornander, An Account of the Polynesian Race, vol 2 p 72-73).
