Kaneoneo

(Abt 1754 - Abt 1785)

LINEAGE
Conflict: McKinzie, Hawaiian Genealogies, vol 1 p 15, vol 2 p 29 list mother as Lonokahikini, but she is his paternal grandmother. Fornander does not identify a mother. However, the chart on Fornander, An Account of the Polynesian Race, vol 1 p 249 appears to show that Kaneoneo is descended from Kumahana who is descended from Lonokahikini, but perhaps it is intended to indicate that Kumahana was another mate of Lonokahikini, from which was born Kaneoneo.
Conflict: Genealogy of Kawananakoa family, Hms G44 lists parents as Keeaumoku and Kapueo
Conflict: Arthur Peter Brickwood 1808-1883, Hms G57 lists father as Peleioholani .
LIFE
A. He was of Oahu (McKinzie, Hawaiian Genealogies, vol 2 p 37).
B. He first aided Kahekili in his battle for sovereignty over Oahu and then opposed him, which ultimately caused his death in battle (Kalakaua, The Legends and Myths of Hawaii, p 401).
C. He was "killed at Maunakapu" Oahu in the rebellion against Kahekili about 1785-6 (Fornander, An Account of the Polynesian Race, vol 2 p 223,298).
