Kaohele
(Abt 1759 - )
LIFE
A. Left fatherless in young teen years (Castro, High Chief Kalokuokamaile, p 11). Raised by her mother and then taken to Kamehameha's court, who mated her with Nuhi (Pukui, Hawaiian Genealogies, p 31a). Only child of her parents; her father died on the verge of her "maidenhood," at a time when Kamehameha had subjected all of the islands (Pratt, Keoua: Father of Kings, p 44). Kamehameha may have mated her with Nuhi of Waimea with a political motive to better unite elements of his kingdom.
B. Order of children with Nuhi (Pratt, Keoua: Father of Kings, p 45).
