Edward John GOODOIEN

(19 Apr 1880 - 16 Jun 1963)

Edward was a retail dealer. He spoke Norwegian in front of his grandchildren so they wouldn't understand. He liked to fish, loved to garden. His favorite food to eat was cream and bread. It was very important to him that the family stayed together.

By Patricia Kulhavy November 2009:
Grandpa was quieter. He had a wonderful sense of humor. He did love his cream and bread with sugar. When my sister and brother in law lived in Minneapolis, Grandpa would come to see them on Saturday morning with the paper and the cream and a loaf of bread under his arm and share with my brother in law Larry Christy. They really had a good time together. I think Grandma kind of henpecked him but you know, they had seven children and stayed together so what does it matter. They worked hard and had a good life as far as I knew as a child and I am glad I had them as role models for as much as I did. I think about Grandma when I am sitting and quilting, and doing things in my yard. I think about Grandpa when I admit to having a good sense of humor. I think I get their strength and work ethic from them too. I think the Goodoiens are wonderful people.
