Obituary from Hendricks Pioneer:
Last Rites for Sivert Hindoien
Rev. M. A. Ericksen officiated on Monday afternoon at funeral services for a respected member of the Hendricks community, Sivert Hindoien, 67, to whom death had come the Saturday previous.
At a service at the Hindoien home, Mrs. M. A. Ericksen sang a vocal solo, and at the last rites at Calvary Lutheran Church, musical numbers included selections by a male quartette composed of P. C. Hinsverk, Peder Pederson, Hans Hegstad, and Herman Ronning.
Serving as pallbearers were Oscar Wahlstrom, Ole J. Ness, Halfdan Arneson, Christ Wold, John Morken, and Iver Moen. Interment was made in the East cemetery.
Sivert Halvorson Hindoien was born in Singsaas, Norway on August 24, 1888, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Halvor Hindoien. He resided in his native country until he came to America on June 20, 1910, coming directly to the Hendricks area. He has lived here since that time. It is interesting to note that it was exactly 45 years to the day from the time Mr. Hindoien arrived in America until the funeral services were held. He had returned to Norway for a visit a few years ago.
During the years he was a resident of Hendricks, Mr. Hindoien was engaged in the carpentry trade, all that time with Halfdan Arneson. These men constructed many of the homes in Hendricks and surrounding vicinity. Mr. Hindoien was active at his trade until he was taken ill on May 11th of this year.
He had been confined to the hospital until his passing.
On December 18, 1916, he was united in marriage to Anna Digre. They were the parents of three children. Those who survive are Mrs. Hindoien and two daughters, Mrs. Norin Morseth of Hendricks, and Mrs. James Ekse, of Minneapolis. Other survivors are two brothers and one sister in Norway, and two grandchildren. A daughter, Inez, preceded him in death.

Sivert's Declaration of Intention in Lincoln County, MN on 25 Nov. 1911, stated he came to America from Trondheim, Norway, on the vessel Corsican, and arrived at the port of Quebec, and then went by train to Slt St. Marie, Michigan on or about 24 June 1910.
