Rev. Fjeseth meets with Fatal Mishap
Rev G. O. Fjeseth, pastor of the Prairie Farm Lutheran Church, met his death in a most tragic accident last Thursday forenoon. Some time between 9:30 and 10 A.M. Mr Fjeseth called at the Paul Pederstuen Garage to have the universal joint on his automobile repaired. The garage men were unable to do the work because of a full shop so Mr. Fjeseth decided to do the work himself. He drove his car upon the wooden incline in the west lot of the garage. About 10 A. M. or there abouts. He returned to the garage to get a box to hold the bolts.
At about 10:45 A.M. Leonard Ellefson, mechanic at the garage, crossed the street to examine the rods on a car and noticed that Mr. Fjeseth's car had come off the incline. He immediately investigated and found the minister pinned under the vehicle. Deep holes at the foot of the incline allowed the car to rest very closely to the ground. Leonard Ellefson, Paul Pederstuen and Lawrence Christenson pushed the car up the incline and released the crushed man. Dr. G.A. Natvig arrived immediately and pronounced Mr. Fjeseth dead due to pressure.
The car shaft was lose at one end and Mr. Fjeseth had removed the bolt releasing the breaks, allowing the car to hurtle down the incline, crushing him to death beneath it.
