Charles Hudson
(3 Apr 1691 - 1745)
== Biography ==
Mary Wingfield was the daughter of Charles Hudson. Hudson's 1745 will named John Wingfield, his son-in-law, as an executor. The will lent Prospect, a Goochland (later Albemarle) County plantation, to his daughter Mary for life, after which it descended to his grandson Charles Wingfield. The will also left a legacy to his granddaughter Rebecca Wingfield.
The lands of John Wingfield, were taxed to his widow, Mary Wingfield after 1771. Mary Wingfield must have died about 1779 since an estate of John Wingfield was being settled then and the 1782 Land Tax Book shows the 350 acres of Mary Wingfield divided between her sons, John Wingfield, Jr., and Thomas Wingfield.
No doubt the Charles Hudson's father was William. The research recorded by the Hudson family seems satisfactory. But, the evidence of Charles's wife, mother and siblings (brought by WikiTree merging of William) is questionable.
After the William Hudson merge, we see Charles as brother of Charles. This is evidence of a problem in ancestry claims. I'm not able to vouch for the siblings of Charles.

(Captain) Charles Hudson was listed as a tithable in St. Paul's Parish in 1720. He signed processioner's reports February 7, 1727/8 and September 9, 1739. In the latter report was a recommendation that John Wingfield "be put in procession Master in the room of Charles Hudson". He was elected a Vestryman of St. Paul's Parish January 2, 1726/7 and attended vestry meetings regularly. June 15, 1730, he was elected Church Warden. So far as the record shows his last attendance was "7ber/11/1739". April 25, 1743, Charles Hudson resigned from the vestry, "being under such Bodily Infirmity that I am unable to act in that station *** given under my hand and seal the XXV day of April MDCCXLIII". Land grants to Charles Hudson are too numerous to be listed here. They embraced large tracts in Hanover, Goochland, Amelia, Louisa. His grants were dated as early as 1724 and as late as 1745. One of these in 1827 was for 2,000 acres on both sides of Hudson's Creek, southside of South Anna River.
