== Biography ==Margery le Despenser was born about 1398 (age 24 or 26 in 1424), daughter and sole heiress of Elizabeth de Tibetot of Nettlestead, Suffolk and her husband Sir Philip le Despenser of Goxhill, Lincs (now styled ''de jure'' 2nd Baron le Despenser).
She and Sir John Roos, 7th Lord Roos, Captain of Chateau Gaillard & Mantes were married as young children, a (retrospective?) Papal dispensation for consanguinity being issued 13 Sept. 1404. They had no issue.
Before 2 March 1423, Margery married (2nd) Roger Wentworth, the landless younger son of a Yorkshire lawyer, John Wentworth of North Elmsall, Esq. and his wife Agnes Dronsfield. Because of the difference in social status, they married secretly and without royal license, for which offense she is said to have been fined £1000, a humongous sum.
They had 3 sons (Sir Philip; Henry, Esq; & Thomas (a cleric)) and 3 daughters (Elizabeth, wife of John Calthorpe; Margaret, wife of Sir William Hopton; and Agnes, wife of Sir Robert Constable).
Margery le Despenser made a will on 30 August 1477. She died on 20 April 1478 at Nettlestead, Suffolk,} and was buried at Grey Friars, Ipswich, Suffolk. Her estate was probated on 28 May 1478.
