== Research Notes ==The Visitations of EssexMetcalfe, Walter C. The Visitations of Essex by Hawley, 1552; Hervey, 1558; Cooke, 1570; Raven, 1612; and Owen and Lilly, 1634. Pg. [https://archive.org/details/visitationsofess13metc/page/476/mode/2up 477] lists Robert's spouse as simply unnamed "d. of Rushtall/Rushall" with no reference to her origin, while Family Search has a Roxwell, Essex marriage record for Annis Smitten in 1583"England, Essex Parish Registers, 1538-1997," database, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XKDC-ZLF : 18 July 2017), Robert Reeve and Annis Smitten, 03 Nov 1583; citing Marriage, , Roxwell, Essex, England, Essex Record Office, England.. While the timeline fits with the gap between ordination and becoming vicar of Great Hormead, the last name difference is troubling.
Family Search goes on to offer a pair of christening records in 1586 for a Rose"England, Essex Parish Registers, 1538-1997," database, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XK8T-XMX : 12 February 2018), Robert Reeve in entry for Rose Reeve, 06 Apr 1586, Christening; citing Little Canfield, Essex, England, Essex Record Office, England; FHL microfilm 1,471,966. and Robert"England, Essex Parish Registers, 1538-1997," database, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XK8T-XM2 : 12 February 2018), Robt Reeve in entry for Robert Reeve, 12 Sep 1586, Christening; citing Little Canfield, Essex, England, Essex Record Office, England; FHL microfilm 1,471,966. in Little Canfield, Essex, which is roughly half-way between Great Hormead and Roxwell. This also fits in the timeline as it is prior to Robert's appointment as Rector of Wrestlingworth, Beds, but odd that it's not credited to Great Hormead and unhelpful that no spouse's name is recorded.
Between 1588 and 1592, there are three births in Great Hormead's records that are credited to a Robert and Helen, all with the last names Reeve"England Births and Christenings, 1538-1975", database, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:J7W6-W2P : 20 September 2020), Judith Reeve, 1588."England Births and Christenings, 1538-1975", database, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NR94-D74 : 20 September 2020), Bridget Reeve, 1590."England Births and Christenings, 1538-1975", database, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:J3VF-F32 : 20 September 2020), Arabella Reeve, 1592., then again in 1596 a Robert and Helen are recorded as having a child with the last name Reeve in Wrestlingworth"England Births and Christenings, 1538-1975", database, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:J3ZT-G6K : 19 March 2020), Joan Reeve, 1596., however none of the four children are mentioned in Visitations. Without knowing for certain the first name of Robert's wife, it makes it difficult to ascertain whether or not these children do belong to this family, but the likelihood is extremely high that these are in fact four additional daughters.
