Sir Baldwin Mallet was born at of Enmore, Somersetshire, England. He married Amicia Lyffe, daughter of Richard Lyffe and M Stawell. Sir Baldwin Mallet also married Elizabeth Trivett, daughter of Thomas Trivet.

Burkes' Peerage states that Baldwin married "1st, Elizabeth, dau. of Sir Thomas Trivett, and 2ndly, Amicia, dau. and co-heiress of Richard Lyffe, of Corypole. He was summoned to the great council 2 HENRY 1.W. 1401, and was s. by the son of his 2nd wife"A Genealogical and Heraldic History of the Peerage and Baronetage, the Privy Council, Knightage and Companionage, Bernard Burke, Ashworth Peter Burke

Before 1166 Hugh Fichet held an estate which in 1166 was part of the fee his son Baldwin Malet held of William Malet. (fn. 6) After litigation William Malet (d. c. 1216) granted 1½ hide in Sutton to William Malet of Enmore in 1202 (fn. 7) and the estate, variously described as land, a fee, a vill, and from 1405 as Sutton manor, (fn. 8) descended in the Malet family. Sir Baldwin Malet was in possession in 1259, (fn. 9) Raymond Malet in 1264-5 (fn. 10) and by 1279-80 Sir John Malet (d. c. 1288). (fn. 11) John's son Sir Baldwin was still alive in 1337 (fn. 12) but by 1343 had been succeeded by his son John. (fn. 13) John was still in possession in 1361 (fn. 14) but by 1368 was followed by [[Malet-134|Sir Baldwin]] who seems to have survived until c. 1416.
