Sir Thomas Dominus) 3rd Feudal Baron of Kilmarnock Boyd (erroneously styled by Mr. W. P. Boyd as the First Lord Boyd) had a remission for the killing of one Nielson, of Dalrymple, in a feud in 1409, from Duke Robert of Albany, who had seized the reins of government from King Robert III.
He married [[Gifford-521|Alice Gifford]] (born 1345, a second daughter of Sir Hugh Gifford, of Yester), and by this union acquired a large fortune.The Boyd Family by Arthur S. Boyd published by Leland E Dorothy, 15 Vandewater St. New York, 1924, p. 9
They had one son: * [[Boyd-68|Sir Thomas Boyd of Kilmarnock]] (died 1432) who was one of the sureties, or hostages, for King James I (who had been held by the English as prisoner for 19 years).
